Turkish Warship TCG Büyükada Visits Karachi, Showcasing Türkiye-Pakistan Brotherhood

Karachi: The Turkish Navy warship TCG Büyükada (F-512) arrived at Karachi Port for a goodwill visit, reflecting the enduring and historic ties between Türkiye and Pakistan. The visit underscores the deep-rooted friendship, strategic partnership, and shared values between the two brotherly nations.

Speaking at the onboard reception hosted by Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Meziroğlu and Commanding Officer Lt. Cdr. Anil Bilgin, Türkiye’s Consul General in Karachi, Mr. Cemal Sangu, described the visit as a powerful symbol of naval cooperation and mutual respect.

High-Level Pakistani Leadership Attends Reception

The reception drew a distinguished gathering of Pakistani officials and dignitaries, including:

  • Senator Nisar Ahmed Khuhro
  • Senator Nasrin Jalil
  • Federal State Minister Fahad Haroon
  • Sindh Ministers Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Makhdoom Mehboob uz Zaman, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah
  • Commissioner Karachi Mohammed Iqbal Memon
  • Business leaders Zubair Motiwala, Kalim Farooqui, Majyd Aziz, Humza Y. Tabani
  • Senior bureaucrats, Navy officials, and law enforcement including DIG Maqsood Memon

Türkiye-Pakistan Ties “Deeper Than the Ocean, Higher Than K2”

In his address, Consul General Cemal Sangu stated, “The presence of TCG Büyükada at Karachi Port not only showcases the strength of our naval cooperation but also symbolizes our shared commitment to regional peace and maritime security.”

He added, “Our brotherhood is deeper than the ocean and higher than K2. This relationship cannot be measured in words; it comes from our hearts and souls.”

Mr. Sangu emphasized that Türkiye and Pakistan have always stood by each other during times of crisis — whether it was earthquakes in Türkiye or devastating floods in Pakistan — with spontaneous outpourings of support from both sides.

Strengthening Defense and Maritime Collaboration

The Turkish envoy praised the Pakistan Navy and the Government of Sindh for their warm hospitality. He expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation in defense, security, and maritime operations would continue to strengthen in the years to come.

“May this goodwill visit further deepen mutual understanding and brotherhood between our armed forces and nations,” he concluded, extending congratulations on behalf of the Turkish Ambassador in Islamabad.
