“Truth Prevailed, Falsehood Defeated”: Field Marshal Asim Munir Hails ‘Unprecedented Success’ on Marka-e-Haq Anniversary

Rawalpindi: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Sunday declared that Pakistan, its people, and armed forces achieved “an unprecedented success by the grace of Allah,” describing “Marka-e-Haq” as a defining ideological and military confrontation in which “truth prevailed and falsehood was defeated.”

The remarks were made during a grand ceremony held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi to mark the completion of one year since Pakistan’s declared victory in Marka-e-Haq. The event was reported by state broadcaster Radio Pakistan.

Marka-e-Haq refers to the 2025 Pakistan–India conflict, which began after the April 22 Pahalgam incident and concluded with a ceasefire on May 10 following Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

At the ceremony, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf laid floral wreaths at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada. Field Marshal Asim Munir also laid a wreath and offered fateha for the martyrs.

“No compromise on sovereignty”

Addressing the ceremony as chief guest, Field Marshal Munir paid tribute to the martyrs, including civilians who lost their lives during the conflict, saying their sacrifices were a sacred trust of the nation.

He stated that Pakistan’s success in Marka-e-Haq demonstrated national unity, professional military excellence, and divine support. “The sacrifices of martyrs are our strength, and our responsibility is to honor them through continued vigilance and preparedness,” he said.

He reiterated that Pakistan would never allow any attempt to destabilize regional balance or threaten its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity.

Allegations and regional tensions

The army chief alleged that India had repeatedly attempted to impose conflict through what he called “false flag operations” in 2001, 2008, 2016, and 2019, claiming these efforts were aimed at political and military objectives through misinformation and narrative building.

He said India suffered “significant losses” during the conflict and claimed Pakistan successfully targeted more than 26 military objectives using “Fatah missiles” and PAF capabilities.

“Pakistan’s defence today is completely impregnable against any external aggression,” he said, warning that any future military adventurism would face “dangerous, far-reaching consequences.”

Modern warfare and cyber domain

Field Marshal Munir emphasized that modern warfare is increasingly multi-domain, involving cyber operations, drones, artificial intelligence, and long-range precision weapons. He said Pakistan has adapted to these evolving challenges.

He also credited national leadership, media, and youth for countering what he described as enemy propaganda, cyber warfare, and psychological operations.

Diplomatic and strategic developments

He highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, including what he termed successful international engagement and peace messaging. He praised the strategic defence cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia as a key milestone in foreign relations.

He further said Pakistan was hosting “Islamabad Talks,” describing them as part of responsible and balanced diplomacy aimed at regional peace.

He also urged Afghanistan to prevent the use of its territory for terrorism, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to counterterrorism operations until the elimination of the last militant.

Kashmir and national resolve

Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, he said the country would continue political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people.

Concluding his address, Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan’s future remained bright, stating: “When truth and falsehood confront each other, victory belongs to truth. Pakistan was invincible yesterday, is invincible today, and will remain invincible in the future.”
