Team Nigeria wins Karachi’s International Student Friendly Football Tournament 2025

Karachi: Team Nigeria clinched the title at Karachi’s International Student Friendly Six-a-Side Football Tournament 2025, an event organized by the Royal Thai Consulate General in Karachi in collaboration with Greenwich University.
The tournament, supported by the Thai Students Association in Karachi (TSAK), Pak-Thai Friendship Association & Business Forum, and Thai Airways, featured student teams from Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Nigeria.
Consul General of Thailand in Karachi, H.E. Surashete Boontinand, inaugurated the matches, stressing the unifying role of football in fostering friendships and strengthening Pakistan-Thailand relations. “Football’s universal language unites students from different nations and cultures,” he said.
After a competitive series of matches, Nigeria secured the championship title, with Indonesia finishing as first runner-up and Thailand B taking third place. Greenwich University Red received the Fair Play Trophy.
The event drew several dignitaries, including Dr. Naveed Ahmed Mughal of Greenwich University, Malaysian Consul General H.E. Herman Hadynata bin Ahmad, Indonesia’s Acting Consul General H.E. Dewanto Priyokusumo, and representatives from academic and cultural institutions.
Organizers said the tournament aimed to promote cultural exchange, people-to-people connectivity, and healthy competition among students. The evening concluded with a prize ceremony where trophies and medals were awarded to the winners, marking a celebration of sportsmanship and friendship.
