K-Electric Vows to Improve Power Supply and Service Quality in Karachi

K-Electric Power Supply: K-Electric Chairman Shaharyar Chishti has said the utility is working to improve electricity transmission and service quality across Karachi while ensuring a reliable supply for residential and industrial consumers.

Speaking at a meeting with office-bearers of the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) on Saturday, Chishti acknowledged the challenges facing the power sector but said the company remained confident about addressing them.

“We are continuously improving our transmission standards,” he said, adding that K-Electric’s teams were working to further raise the quality of services provided to consumers.

Focus on Karachi’s industry

Chishti, who said he had worked in several countries, highlighted Karachi’s importance as a major port city and described the city’s industrialists as among K-Electric’s most important customers.

He said the utility had maintained uninterrupted electricity supply on 490 feeders serving industrial areas, with no load-shedding on those feeders.

The chairman also said any reduction in electricity tariffs would directly benefit Karachi’s residents and businesses.

“We are here to listen to industrialists if they have any issues,” Chishti said, assuring the business community that K-Electric was willing to address concerns related to electricity services.

K-Electric confident of overcoming challenges

Chishti also highlighted efforts by successive K-Electric management teams over the past two decades to strengthen the utility’s infrastructure and operations.

He cited the development of LNG plants in Pakistan as an example of investment and infrastructure development in the country’s energy sector.

“Challenges exist, but we are hopeful we will emerge from them,” he said.

The meeting focused on electricity supply, transmission standards and the concerns of Karachi’s industrial sector, with K-Electric reiterating its commitment to improving service reliability and supporting the city’s economic activity.
