SSA Announces 1st Sindh Open Snooker Championship 2024

Karachi: The Sindh Snooker Association, in collaboration with Fatima Business School and organized by B Activation, is thrilled to announce the 1st Sindh Open Snooker Championship 2024. The highly anticipated event will take place from December 17 to December 22, 2024, at a premier venue in Sindh.

Top Talent Competing for Glory
The championship will feature 32 players, including Hasnain Akhter, the Asian U-21 Champion, and top national ranking players such as Sohail Shehzad, currently ranked Pakistan’s No. 3 snooker player. The tournament is expected to be a highly competitive event, showcasing some of the best snooker talent from across the region, with both established stars and rising talents battling for the title.

Prize Pool and Format Details
The 1st Sindh Open Snooker Championship 2024 offers an impressive prize pool:

  • Winner: PKR 100,000
  • Runner-up: PKR 50,000
  • Semi-Finalists: PKR 20,000 each
  • Quarter-Finalists: PKR 10,000 each
  • Highest Break Prize: PKR 10,000 for the best break of the tournament

The competition will follow a knockout format, with the early rounds played in a Best of 5 Frames format. The Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be played in a Best of 7 Frames format, while the Final will be a Best of 9 Frames contest, ensuring an action-packed conclusion to the championship.

A Historic Event for Female Participants
For the first time in Sindh Snooker history, a female category has been introduced, marking a significant milestone for the sport in the region. This initiative aims to create a broader impact, providing more opportunities for female snooker players in Sindh.

Tournament Leadership and Referee
The event will be overseen by Waqas Younus Bux, the Tournament Director, who has been pivotal in organizing this prestigious championship. Mr. Aqeel Ameer Buksh, an internationally renowned referee, will serve as the Chief Referee for the event. Buksh recently represented Pakistan at the IBSA World Amateurs Championship in Doha, Qatar.
