SMUTA Observes Black Day in Solidarity with SAU Staff

Staff Reporter

Karachi: The Sindh Madressatul Islam University Teachers Association (SMUTA) on Tuesday observed a Black Day to show solidarity with employees of the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Umerkot Campus, who have been deprived of their salaries for the past three months.

Responding to a call from the Sindh Agriculture University Teachers Association (SAUTA), SMUTA members wore black armbands and held placards at the SMIU campus to protest the delay in salary disbursements and to urge authorities to ensure immediate payment to the affected employees.

Addressing the gathering, SMUTA representatives expressed deep concern over the financial distress faced by the teaching and non-teaching staff of SAU Umerkot Campus. They stressed that withholding salaries is an act of injustice that undermines both the dignity and morale of the academic community.

Assistant Professor Asif Hussain Samo, President of SMUTA, and Assistant Professor Wafa Mansoor Buriro, General Secretary, reaffirmed their association’s full support for SAUTA’s peaceful protest. They called upon the relevant authorities to intervene without delay and resolve the salary issue.

The association reiterated that Sindh’s teaching community stands united in defending the rights and welfare of university employees across the province.
