Sindh Food Authority Launches New Licensing App and Training Program

The initiative aims to improve employee

performance and ensure the delivery of safe

hygienic, and quality food to the public

Staff Reporter

Karachi: A high-level meeting of the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) was held under the chairmanship of Abdul Jabbar Khan, Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister on Food, at the office of the Secretary Food to review the authority’s overall performance, financial matters, licensing process, and technical issues.

Dissatisfaction Over Vigilance Team Performance

During the meeting, Abdul Jabbar Khan expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the Vigilance Team. He issued a stern warning that staff failing to show improvement within a week would be removed from their positions.

He also directed immediate action against hotels and food stalls operating illegally, particularly those set up over stormwater drains. “The licensing network must be streamlined and made more accessible so that more business owners are registered,” he added.

New Licensing App Launched

The Director General of the SFA informed participants that a new mobile application has been developed to simplify the licensing and registration process. Through this app, food business operators can now register and obtain licenses online, making the system more efficient and user-friendly.

Strict Code of Conduct and Upcoming SFA Force

Khan emphasized that all SFA officials must strictly follow the code of conduct, and no enforcement action should be taken unless officers are in proper uniform. He also stressed the need to coordinate with the district administration before taking action.

He revealed that a formal request has been submitted to the Chief Minister of Sindh for the establishment of a dedicated Sindh Food Authority Force, which is expected to be launched soon to enhance enforcement capabilities.

Comprehensive Training Program for SFA Staff

In a major development, the Sindh Food Authority announced the launch of a comprehensive training program for all employees at the district level. These sessions will cover:

  • Modern food safety standards
  • Inspection protocols
  • Law enforcement techniques
  • Public awareness strategies

The training will begin in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Mirpurkhas, with plans to expand to other districts in later phases. The initiative aims to improve employee performance and ensure the delivery of safe, hygienic, and quality food to the public.

Senior Officials Attend the Meeting

The meeting was attended by Member Sindh Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary Halar Wassan, Secretary Food, DG SFA, and other key officials including the Director Finance, Director Technical, Director Production, Director Operations (Karachi Division), Deputy Directors of Licensing, and all Deputy Directors of Operations from Karachi.
