Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior has taken formal notice of the drug trafficking case involving alleged drug dealer Anmol, also known as “Pinky,” during its recent meeting.
The committee meeting held in Islamabad reviewed multiple law and order issues, during which the case of Anmol alias Pinky came under discussion.
Senator Samina Zehri raised concerns over the matter, stating that a woman who was recently arrested in a drug case had been seen moving freely in public prior to her detention. She questioned how such individuals were operating openly despite serious allegations.
During the session, the committee chairman directed the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to compile and submit a detailed list of individuals allegedly supplied drugs by the accused. He further instructed that all recipients, regardless of their positions or influence, should be identified.
The chairman also stated that anyone found involved, including officials or influential figures, would be referred to rehabilitation centers as part of a broader corrective approach.
Senator Saifullah Abro raised a separate issue during the meeting, referring to a kidnapping case in the G-11/Golra area of Islamabad. He claimed that despite repeated attempts, he was unable to reach the Inspector General of Islamabad Police regarding the matter.
Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, while speaking on law and order challenges in the capital, said that Islamabad is a rapidly growing city with a population of around 2.5 million, hosting residents from all provinces. He added that the government aims to develop Islamabad as Pakistan’s first smart city.
The committee emphasized the need for stronger enforcement against drug networks and improved coordination among law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability and public safety.
