Rotary International Governor Calls for Climate Action, Membership Growth

Karachi: Rotary International District 3271 Governor Rizwan Adhia has emphasized the urgency of tackling climate change, calling it a major challenge that requires immediate action. Speaking at an event held at Defence Club Karachi, he also highlighted the need to increase Rotary membership, announcing a fee reduction from PKR 25,000 to PKR 15,000 to encourage new members.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Vice Chairman LPG Association & Former President Rotary Club Karachi Muhammad Ali Haider, General Secretary Rotary Club Karachi Nexus Fawad Shaikh, Founder & Former President Kausar Aslam, and several other Rotary members.
Governor Rizwan Adhia stressed the importance of leveraging social media to spread awareness about Rotary’s initiatives. He also outlined key focus areas, including:
Muhammad Ali Haider reflected on Rotary’s growth, stating:
“Since our journey began in 2017, membership has grown to over 50. We aim to increase literacy by supporting more schools, enabling children to become valuable members of society.”
He urged members to donate 25% of their Zakat to Rotary, ensuring the funds are directed toward vital social projects.
Fawad Shaikh welcomed Governor Rizwan Adhia’s leadership, particularly his commitment to building homes in flood-affected areas. Meanwhile, Kausar Aslam thanked the attendees and proposed holding similar gatherings twice a month to strengthen community engagement.
The event concluded with Junaid Hamid presenting a performance report, showcasing Rotary’s impact across various sectors.
