Robert Pattinson has teased a major shift in The Batman: Part II, describing the upcoming sequel as an ambitious new direction for the superhero franchise.
Pattinson, who will return as Bruce Wayne in the 2027 film, told Collider that the sequel will take a different approach from the 2022 original. He said the movie represents a “real left turn” while retaining elements of the first film’s tone.
“It’s so ambitious,” Pattinson said. “The first one was a different take on a Batman movie, and this one is another. It’s a real left turn from the first one, but somehow it keeps elements of the kind of feel of it.”
The actor added that he is excited to see how the project develops. Filming is currently underway, with director Matt Reeves returning after helming the first movie.
The Batman: Part II will also expand its cast with several new additions. Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have joined the franchise. Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Jayme Lawson, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry are also set to appear.

Pattinson has maintained a busy schedule in 2026. His recent projects include The Drama and The Odyssey. His portrayal of To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen in Primetime is also scheduled to arrive on Friday.
Meanwhile, Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release on December 18. Pattinson previously said at the Venice Film Festival that he would have been “devastated” to lose any of his projects from his 2026 schedule.
The Batman: Part II is scheduled to reach cinemas on October 1, 2027. Reeves will direct, while Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne.
