Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Türkiye is playing a dynamic role in promoting the country’s positive image, national history, culture and the visionary ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Under the leadership of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Dr Yusuf Junaid, a series of impactful initiatives are being organised that not only further strengthen relations between the two brotherly nations but also introduce Turkish citizens, especially the youth, to Pakistan’s rich history, civilisation and national heroes.

From the promotion of Urdu language at Ankara University to diplomatic achievements, cultural programmes, academic seminars and youth-oriented events, the Pakistani Embassy in Ankara is giving fresh momentum to people-to-people and cultural ties between Pakistan and Türkiye. A significant milestone in this effort was the commemorative photo exhibition held at Istanbul’s historic Rami Library to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The event was attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Türkiye Dr Yusuf Junaid, Istanbul Deputy Governor Mehmet Solun, Acting District Governor of Eyup Sultan Dr Arslan Yurt, Director of Rami Library Ali Çelik, academicians, intellectuals, diplomats, media representatives and members of the Pakistani community residing in Türkiye.

Jointly organised by the Pakistani Embassy in Ankara, Albayrak Media Group and Rami Library, the exhibition featured rare and historic photographs illustrating Quaid-e-Azam’s life, his prolonged political struggle, exemplary leadership and the creation of Pakistan. The display allowed visitors to gain deeper insights into Jinnah’s monumental historical role and profound political vision.

In his address, Ambassador Dr Yusuf Junaid highlighted various facets of Quaid-e-Azam’s personality, stating that Muhammad Ali Jinnah was not only the founder of Pakistan but also a global champion of constitutionalism, rule of law, democratic values and principled politics. “Quaid-e-Azam’s vision continues to provide guidance for modern statecraft, transparent governance and national unity,” he said.

Dr Junaid particularly emphasised that Quaid-e-Azam’s three foundational principles — Unity, Faith and Discipline— remain as relevant today for Pakistan’s progress, stability and prosperity as they were in the past. He added that Jinnah’s philosophy is not limited to Pakistan alone but is recognised worldwide as a beacon of justice, democracy and dignified political struggle.

Istanbul Deputy Governor Mehmet Solun described Quaid-e-Azam as one of the most important political figures of the 20th century and paid rich tributes to his services. He said such educational and cultural exhibitions play a vital role in introducing younger generations to great historical leaders and fostering mutual respect and understanding among nations.

Prominent scholar Prof Dr Davut Şahbaz elaborated on Quaid-e-Azam’s political acumen, constitutional struggle and his vision of a modern, democratic, inclusive and welfare-oriented state. He noted that Jinnah’s political strategy and principled leadership continue to serve as an inspiring model for political leaders around the world.

This exhibition was more than a mere cultural event; it symbolised the deep historical, religious, cultural and fraternal bonds between Pakistan and Türkiye. The relationship between the two countries has always been rooted in mutual trust, affection and shared values. Cooperation is expanding across diplomacy, economy, defence, education and culture, while people-to-people contacts are growing stronger.

The efforts of Ambassador Dr Yusuf Junaid are especially commendable as he has extended traditional diplomacy beyond official circles into public, academic, educational and cultural spheres. The commemorative photo exhibition organised on Quaid-e-Azam’s 150th birth anniversary not only highlighted the towering personality and ideals of Pakistan’s founder but also opened a bright new chapter in the timeless friendship and enduring brotherhood between Pakistan and Türkiye.
