Punjab Monsoon has claimed 29 lives and left 203 people injured in rain-related incidents across the province, according to the latest report released by the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The PDMA said collapsing mud houses, unsafe buildings, lightning strikes and electrocution caused most of the fatalities during the ongoing monsoon season.
The report also stated that heavy rainfall partially damaged 52 houses across Punjab. In addition, six livestock animals died during the severe weather.
PDMA warns of third spell of monsoon
Meanwhile, the PDMA has issued a fresh alert ahead of the third spell of monsoon rains. Director General PDMA instructed all district administrations to remain on high alert and complete emergency preparations.
Authorities warned that several areas could face urban flooding and flash floods. Therefore, officials have been directed to implement precautionary measures and respond quickly to any emergency.
Citizens urged to follow safety precautions
The PDMA chief said collapsing roofs of old and unsafe buildings caused the highest number of deaths. He urged residents to avoid staying inside structurally weak houses during heavy rain.
Furthermore, the authority advised people to stay away from exposed electricity wires and utility poles to reduce the risk of electrocution.
Under the Punjab government’s compensation policy, families of those who died in rain-related incidents will receive financial assistance ranging from Rs1 million to Rs5 million.
