The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) recorded a strong recovery during the outgoing business week, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 4,034 points to close at 166,409.
The positive performance helped the market recover four psychological barriers, reflecting improved investor sentiment after a bearish spell in the previous week.
During the week, the KSE-100 Index fluctuated within a range of 6,233 points, reaching a high of 167,483 points and a low of 161,250 points.
Trading activity remained active, with approximately 29.9 million shares changing hands during the week in transactions worth Rs115 billion.
The market’s total capitalisation also increased by Rs374 billion, reaching Rs18.388 trillion.
Market Recovers After Previous Week’s Losses
The latest gains followed a difficult trading week in which the benchmark KSE-100 Index lost 4,044 points to close at 162,374.
During that period, the index moved within a range of 4,406 points, recording a high of 166,698 and a low of 162,292.
Selma Blair Issues Emotional Apology After Arrest Over Delta Flight Incident
Trading volume during the previous week stood at 1.96 billion shares, with transactions valued at Rs96 billion.
Market capitalisation declined by Rs465 billion to Rs18.014 trillion.
Middle East Tensions Weighed on Investor Sentiment
Market analysts had attributed the previous week’s bearish sentiment to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, attacks on Saudi Arabia and rising oil prices.
According to analysts, these developments discouraged investors from buying shares and increased uncertainty in the market.
They had also said that greater clarity over a possible ceasefire would be important for restoring investor confidence and supporting a sustained recovery.
The latest weekly rebound marks a positive shift for the country’s equity market, although investors continue to monitor regional developments and their potential impact on market sentiment.
