Karachi: In a milestone initiative aimed at propelling Pakistan into the digital age, the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITES (P@SHA) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The agreement marks the first formal collaboration between P@SHA and ADB and highlights a shared vision for technology-led economic growth, data-driven policymaking, and sustainable development in Pakistan.
The MoU was signed by Nasruminallah Mian, Senior Programs Officer at ADB, and Syed Ali Abbas Hasani, Secretary General of P@SHA. This partnership seeks to harness ADB’s development expertise and P@SHA’s strong industry network to steer Pakistan toward a resilient, future-ready digital economy.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sajjad Mustafa Syed, Chairman of P@SHA, said:
“This partnership is a catalyst for digital sovereignty. With ADB, we’re co-architecting innovation ecosystems that scale talent, embed equity, and power Pakistan’s leap into a resilient digital future.”
Key Areas of Collaboration
Under this MoU, P@SHA and ADB will collaborate on multiple initiatives, including:
- Research on Emerging Technologies & Digital Public Policy
- Capacity Building Programs: Skills development workshops, advanced training, and leadership forums
- Policy Roundtables: Engaging government, academia, and industry to shape digital reforms
- Innovation Recognition Platforms: National tech awards, startup empowerment programs, and digital ecosystem showcases
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior leaders from both organizations, including Dr. Sonia Saleem, Mr. Salman Dar (CEC members), and others.
This alliance sets the stage for an inclusive digital future, positioning Pakistan as a rising player in the global tech economy.
