KARACHI, October 6, 2026: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has welcomed a large number of women from diverse political, social and business backgrounds, according to party leaders.
PPP Women’s Wing Sindh President and MNA Shagufta Jumani announced the development at a press conference at the Bilawal House Media Cell in Karachi.
Jumani said Sindh had historically welcomed people from different communities and linguistic backgrounds, including Urdu-speaking citizens.
She said the PPP welcomed people without discrimination based on colour, race or ethnicity.
Jumani said the party’s Women’s Wing remained an important part of its organisational structure. She credited PPP Women’s Wing Central President Faryal Talpur with strengthening the wing.
According to Jumani, the Women’s Wing has been organised up to the Union Council level.
She also praised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur for their efforts to strengthen the party organisation.
Women Join PPP From Diverse Backgrounds
Jumani welcomed the women who decided to join the PPP. She said the new entrants came from different political, social and professional backgrounds.
The women named at the event included Shami Khan, Sarwat Shehzad, Nazma Azhar, Maryam Arshad, Farzana Arshad, Dr Nazia, Hania Sheikh, Anmita and Afreen Bashir.
Others included Sofia, Fatima Faisal, Najma Parveen, Uzma Siddiqui, Mahira Durani, Fiza Mushtaq, Hafsa Shakeel, Yusra Ishtiaq, Zainab Khan, Ayesha Khan and Nahida Shamim.
The list also included Ghazala Yousuf, Fariha Aqib, Asma, Noreen, Qurrat-ul-Ain, Sakina, Rubina, Anzeela and Maha, among others.
Jumani said the growing number of people joining the party reflected its expanding organisational outreach.
PPP Leaders Discuss Karachi Development
Jumani also spoke about development work in Karachi. She said the city had faced difficult circumstances in the past but claimed that development projects were now underway across Karachi.
PPP Karachi Division President and MNA Shahida Rehmani also addressed the press conference.
Rehmani said development work in Karachi and the increasing number of people joining the PPP reflected public confidence in the party.
She said Sindh had embraced Urdu-speaking citizens. She also called for equal opportunities for children across the province.
Rehmani said children from cities such as Karachi and Shikarpur should have equal opportunities to progress and compete.
The National Assembly lists both Jumani and Rehmani as PPPP members representing Sindh on reserved seats for women.

Questions on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Politics
Responding to journalists’ questions about the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Jumani said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had been elected through votes of the people but was now protesting on the streets.
Asked about the possibility of governor’s rule in the province, she said the decision would be taken by the federal government.
The press conference was also attended by PPP Women’s Wing Sindh General Secretary and MNA Dr Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, Information Secretary and MPA Saadia Javed, PPP Karachi Division General Secretary and Provincial Minister Shaheena Sher Ali, Asma Hassan and Anila Ansari.
