PM Shehbaz Sharif orders an inquiry into the PIMS nursery fire.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has removed Federal Health Secretary Aslam Ghouri from his post following a fire at the nursery of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) that killed 14 newborn babies.
The prime minister took the decision during a high-level meeting to review the incident. He expressed strong displeasure over the performance of relevant officials and ordered immediate action.
PM Shehbaz also formed a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the fire and determine responsibility for the deaths.

Former interior secretary Shahid Khan will head the committee. Secretary Establishment Dr Barrister Noel Awan will also serve as a member.
Earlier, the prime minister expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and called the loss of the newborns an irreparable tragedy. He directed authorities to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
Shehbaz Sharif also extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for patience and strength for the parents.
