PCB Finances IHC Suspends Order Seeking Disclosure of Players’ Financial Details

PCB Finances came under legal review after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended an order directing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to disclose the financial details of national cricket team players.

IHC Issues Stay Order

IHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar issued the stay order while hearing a petition filed by the PCB.

The court suspended the Pakistan Information Commission’s decision, issued on July 9, until the next hearing.

Court Seeks Responses

The court also issued notices to the Pakistan Information Commission and citizen Kashif Shehzad Awan.

It directed both parties to submit their responses before the next hearing.

PCB Opposes Disclosure

During the proceedings, PCB counsel Kashif Malik Advocate argued that the requested information included more than institutional expenses.

He said the request also covered players’ personal financial details, salaries, match fees, central contracts, and other confidential contractual information.

According to the PCB, releasing such information could expose private financial records that remain protected under existing legal and contractual obligations.

Proceedings Adjourned

After hearing the arguments, the Islamabad High Court halted the implementation of the Pakistan Information Commission’s order.

The court then adjourned the case until the next hearing.
