Pakistani Dramas have gained international recognition and now compete with Netflix productions, according to veteran actor and television host Faisal Qureshi.

Speaking on a recent podcast, Qureshi said Pakistani television serials have expanded beyond local audiences. As a result, they now attract viewers from different parts of the world.
Growing Global Audience
Qureshi said many people compare Pakistani dramas with high-budget Netflix productions. He added that local serials remain freely available online, making them accessible to a much larger audience.
According to the actor, producing a successful Pakistani drama can cost up to Rs200 million. In contrast, some Indian Netflix series reportedly have budgets of around Rs400 million.
Despite the budget gap, Qureshi said Pakistani dramas continue to attract exceptional viewership on YouTube. He claimed that a single episode of a hit drama can sometimes receive more views than an entire successful Netflix series.
Talent Drives Success
Furthermore, Qureshi praised the talent of Pakistani actors. He said local performers can compete with artists from anywhere in the world.
Referring to the Indian entertainment industry, he argued that discussions about Pakistani content on international streaming platforms reflect its growing global appeal. However, he added that India naturally focuses on promoting its own entertainment industry.
Digital Platforms Boost Popularity
Qureshi also shared a personal experience to illustrate the popularity of Pakistani dramas. He recalled seeing a cinema-goer watching a Pakistani drama on a mobile phone during a movie screening.
He added that a friend had witnessed a similar incident. Therefore, he believes digital platforms have helped local dramas reach audiences on a much larger scale.
The actor said the international success of Pakistani dramas highlights the industry’s continued growth and demonstrates the ability of local artists to compete in the global entertainment market.
