Pakistan-UK Relations Ishaq Dar, Miliband Reaffirm Commitment to Stronger Partnership

Pakistan-UK Relations received fresh momentum as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) 2026 in Manila. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two countries.

Dar congratulated Miliband on his appointment as the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary and wished him success in his new role.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the two ministers reviewed bilateral ties and exchanged views on regional and international developments. They also discussed the evolving security situation in the region.

Miliband acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Pakistani diaspora to the United Kingdom. He said the community continues to serve as an important bridge for strengthening bilateral relations.

The meeting also focused on recent regional developments, particularly tensions between the United States and Iran. Miliband appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts to encourage dialogue and support de-escalation during the crisis.

Both leaders expressed concern over recent regional escalations. They emphasised the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and sustained engagement to promote lasting peace and regional stability.
