Dr Akash Murder Three Robbery Suspects Killed During Karachi Police Raid

Dr Akash Murder suspects were killed during a police operation in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Memar after their fleeing accomplices allegedly opened fire on officers, according to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

Police said the SIU took the arrested suspects to Umar Brohi Goth to identify their absconding accomplices. However, the fugitives allegedly opened fire as the team carried out the raid.

As a result, an SIU officer suffered injuries during the exchange of fire. The three arrested suspects—Suresh, Ram Chand and Anil—also sustained critical gunshot wounds. Police said bullets fired by their own accomplices struck them. Meanwhile, the attackers escaped from the scene.

The injured suspects later died while being shifted to hospital, the SIU confirmed.

Earlier, investigators linked the suspects to the July 13 robbery and murder of Dr Akash outside a bank in Clifton. Police said the gang allegedly stole Rs2.5 million before fatally shooting the victim.

The South Zone Police and the SIU had arrested the three suspects in a joint operation. However, three alleged accomplices, including a woman, remain at large.

Meanwhile, the SIU has intensified raids to trace and arrest the fugitives who escaped after the gun battle.
