SMIU Inspection: Vice Chancellor Orders Campus Upgrades Ahead of New Semester

SMIU Inspection was carried out by Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, who reviewed academic and administrative facilities across Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) and directed officials to complete all necessary improvements before the start of the new semester.

During the visit, Dr. Sahrai said SMIU is more than a higher education institution, describing it as a historic heritage site whose educational legacy and century-old buildings form part of Pakistan’s national heritage. He stressed the importance of preserving the university’s historical identity for future generations.

The Vice Chancellor inspected classrooms, faculty rooms, administrative offices, deans’ and coordinators’ offices, the computer laboratory, auditorium, Senate Hall, Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi Library, TV and radio studios, the Media Training Center, indoor sports facilities and other campus buildings.

He instructed the relevant departments to ensure that classroom furniture, information technology infrastructure and other academic facilities are fully prepared before classes resume after the semester break. He said providing students with a high-quality learning environment remains the university’s foremost responsibility.

Dr. Sahrai also directed the Works, Services and Maintenance Department to preserve the university’s 136-year-old stone building with special care. He instructed officials to seek expert guidance for the restoration of any damaged stonework to maintain the building’s historical character.

While reviewing the renovated Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi Library, the Vice Chancellor said its facilities should be organised according to modern academic standards to provide students, faculty members and researchers with an improved environment for study and research.

The inspection was attended by Deans Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto and Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, Registrar Ghulam Mustafa Shaikh, Director of Works and Services Engr. Parvez Ali Bhutto, Executive Engineer Shairan Najeeb, Assistant Engineer Electrical Imran Ali Dehraj, Deputy Registrar (Staff) Sajid Ali, Assistant Registrar (In-Charge Caretaking) Ghulam Ali Ramejo, Anwar Ali from the Public Relations Department and other university officials.
