US President Donald Trump has confirmed that Pakistan and India have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire following intense US-mediated talks. Trump made the announcement via his Truth Social platform, stating, “After a long night of talks, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. Congratulations to both countries for using common sense and great intelligence.”

Ceasefire Agreement Details
India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, confirmed the ceasefire, noting that both countries had worked out an understanding to stop all military action. The ceasefire took effect at 5:00 PM IST (4:30 PM PKT), according to India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. Misri revealed that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) from both sides held talks at 3:35 PM (3:05 PM PKT) and agreed to halt all firing and military actions.

Pakistan’s Commitment to Peace
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed the country’s commitment to peace, stating, “Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty.”

International Efforts to De-escalate
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with both Pakistani and Indian leaders, offering assistance in the de-escalation process. The US State Department also restricted personnel movements amid the escalating tensions. Saudi Arabia has been actively involved, with its Foreign Minister speaking with both countries’ counterparts to promote calm.

China’s Call for Stability
China urged both nations to prioritize peace and stability and avoid actions that could escalate tensions further.

Pakistan’s Retaliation and Military Update
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that the military had shown restraint, despite Indian missile attacks, and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.
