US-Iran Talks Trump Says Negotiations Show Progress Toward Hormuz Deal

President Donald Trump says US-Iran negotiations have made significant progress.

US-Iran Talks gained momentum after President Donald Trump said his administration held “very good discussions” with Iran during day-long negotiations on Tuesday.

Saudi Cabinet Kingdom Calls for Iran-US Negotiations to End Conflict

Trump told Fox News that both sides held all-day talks. Moreover, he expressed confidence that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen soon.

He also warned that the United States would respond forcefully if Iran withdrew from the negotiations again.

Markets React to Diplomatic Progress

Investor optimism lifted global markets after reports suggested progress in the negotiations.

As a result, oil prices fell while Asian stock markets advanced following record highs on Wall Street.

Axios reported that the United States and Iran were close to reaching an interim agreement. The report said Oman played a key mediation role and that Washington hoped to announce the deal on Wednesday.

Iran Signals Caution

However, Iranian state media said any agreement could face delays if the United States continued issuing military threats.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said discussions with Oman remained positive and focused on creating safe shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that the proposed arrangements would protect the sovereignty and national security of both Iran and Oman.

Qatar Supports Mediation

Qatar also reported progress in diplomatic efforts.

The Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed the negotiations with President Trump during a telephone call. Furthermore, both leaders reviewed efforts to narrow differences between Washington and Tehran.

Regional Tensions Continue

Despite the diplomatic progress, tensions remain high across the region.

Iran has restricted most traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States continues measures targeting Iran-linked shipping.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi movement has maintained attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. Indian authorities said rescuers saved all 14 crew members after a projectile struck an Indian-flagged vessel near Yemen.

The International Maritime Organization has reported at least 17 seafarer deaths in incidents linked to the Strait of Hormuz since the conflict began.

The conflict has also caused heavy casualties. Iran says more than 3,400 people have died since the war started, while the United States has reported 18 military personnel killed.
