Harbin: Pakistan highlighted its strong ties with China at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin by presenting a letter of appreciation and a national sports medal.
The gesture recognized the exceptional medical care provided by a Chinese healthcare team to a Pakistani official, symbolizing the enduring friendship between the two nations.
On February 7, a Pakistani female official participating in the Yabuli competition zone sought immediate medical attention at the Athlete’s Village Clinic, operated by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University (HMU). She was suffering from severe coughing, dizziness, and an irregular heartbeat.
Dr. Sun Te Wei, head of the clinic and chief of emergency surgery, promptly examined her and assembled a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to address the complex symptoms. Specialists in neurology, emergency medicine, and cardiology, including Dr. Jiao Hong (neurology), Dr. Zhang De Shen (emergency medicine), and Dr. Sun Na (cardiology), collaborated on an effective treatment plan.
By February 9, follow-up checks confirmed significant improvement, allowing the official to resume her duties.
In appreciation, the Pakistani delegation invited the medical team for a commemorative photo session at their residence. The delegation’s head praised the expertise and dedication of the medical staff, emphasizing China’s unwavering support for Pakistan in healthcare, education, and economic development.
As a token of deep respect, the Pakistan Olympic Association Medal, the country’s highest sporting honor, was officially presented to the clinic, along with a letter of appreciation.
Professor Xu Wan Hai, vice head of the Yabuli competition zone and president of HMU’s Second Affiliated Hospital, expressed gratitude for the recognition. He stated that the medal and letter symbolize more than appreciation—they serve as motivation to maintain the highest standards in medical care for all participants.
This event, marked by a medal, a letter, and a shared photograph, stands as a testament to the deep-rooted friendship between China and Pakistan. Amid the Asian Winter Games, China-Pakistan relations continue to flourish like blooming winter flowers—resilient, vibrant, and enduring.
