Naya Nazimabad Foundation Awards 200 Scholarships to Jinnah University Women

KARACHI — The Naya Nazimabad Foundation has awarded 200 merit-based scholarships to female students enrolled at Jinnah University for Women, Karachi, in a formal ceremony marking a significant contribution to women’s higher education in Pakistan.

Syed Muhammad Talha, Director of the Naya Nazimabad Foundation, presented a cheque of Rs 10 million to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naeem Farooqui on behalf of renowned industrialist and Foundation Chairman Arif Habib. The funds will cover the educational expenses of 200 talented and financially deserving female students.

The ceremony was attended by Finance Director Sunny Ahmed, along with Deans and Registrars from all faculties of the university.

A Promise Fulfilled

The scholarship initiative follows a visit made last month by Chairman Arif Habib to the university, during which he inspected various academic departments and met Chancellor Wajihuddin Ahmed. Following that visit, Habib formally pledged to provide 200 scholarships to female students — a commitment that has now been fulfilled.

Commitment to Women’s Education

Speaking at the occasion, Director Syed Muhammad Talha emphasized the critical role of women’s education in national development. “If a woman is educated, a family is educated,” he said, adding that the Foundation remains committed to supporting women’s education in the future.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naeem Farooqui expressed his gratitude to the Naya Nazimabad Foundation for the generous donation. He confirmed that the scholarship recipients were selected strictly on the basis of academic merit and financial need, and expressed hope that the students would utilize this opportunity to advance their higher education.
