Malaysia Hosts 58th ASEAN Day in Karachi, Showcasing Regional Unity and Cooperation

Karachi: The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi hosted a ceremony marking the 58th Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), also known as ASEAN Day, at its premises.
The event brought together Heads of Missions of ASEAN member states in Karachi, celebrating unity, friendship, and regional cooperation. Ms. Sadia Gohar Khanum, Deputy Chief of Protocol, represented Mr. Irfan Somroo, Director General of the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office (FALO), as the Special Guest.
The commemoration began with the hoisting of the ASEAN Flag alongside the official ASEAN anthem, The ASEAN Way, symbolizing the bloc’s commitment to peace, progress, and partnership across Southeast Asia. This was followed by a group photo, cake-cutting ceremony, and presentation of commemorative shields to recognize the contributions of ASEAN diplomatic missions in Karachi.
H.E. Herman Hardynata Ahmad, Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, thanked ASEAN colleagues and local partners for their continued support. He highlighted the significance of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, emphasizing opportunities for regional integration and economic growth.
Guests also viewed a special message from Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to ASEAN unity. The ceremony concluded with a networking session to strengthen ASEAN-Pakistan ties in diplomacy, trade, culture, and education.
