Karachi: Lightstone Publishers hosted a special Curtain Raiser event at the I.H. Burney Conference Hall of the Karachi Press Club to announce the release of the highly anticipated political memoir The Zardari Presidency 2008–2013: Now It Must Be Told, written by Farhatullah Babar, former spokesperson for President Asif Ali Zardari.
The event featured speeches by Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director of Lightstone Publishers, Farhatullah Babar, and Fazil Jamili, President of the Karachi Press Club.
Ameena Saiyid highlighted the rapid growth of Lightstone Publishers, which has released over 250 educational textbooks and more than 25 general interest books and novels since its founding in 2019. She thanked the team behind the publication, including Fazil Jamili, senior journalist Ghazi Salahuddin, Nadia Ghani (Publishing Director), and Raheela Baqai (Marketing Director) for their invaluable support.
Author Farhatullah Babar captivated the audience with insights from his book, which is drawn from detailed personal diaries kept during his tenure as the President’s spokesperson. He shared that The Zardari Presidency was written independently of Mr. Zardari’s involvement, adding, “He did not know I was writing this.”
Babar described the former president as “neither a villain nor an angel — but a human being.” His candid reflections and detailed narrative of Zardari’s presidency sparked a lively Q&A session with the audience.
