Lamine Yamal scored again as Spain beat Czechia 3-1 in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.
The win kept Spain top of Group A3 with nine points from three games. England are second with six points after their 7-0 victory over Croatia.
Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute. The Barcelona winger cut inside from the right before curling a superb effort into the top corner.
Rodri doubled Spain’s lead after 35 minutes. The captain reacted quickly inside the box and fired the ball into the top corner.
Czechia reduced the deficit with 20 minutes remaining. Jiří Sláma produced a low finish after receiving the ball from Adam Hložek.
Spain then regained control late in the match. Czech captain Ladislav Krejčí was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Substitute Mikel Merino sealed the victory with a late third goal.
Yamal Continues Remarkable Form
Yamal has become a key source of goals for Spain. He has now scored in each of their first three Nations League matches.
England Crush Croatia 7-0 as Kane and Saka Score Twice
His latest goal also took his tournament tally to four. He is now among the competition’s leading scorers alongside England’s Harry Kane and Finland’s Leo Walta.
The 19-year-old has also scored 12 goals in his last nine appearances for club and country, according to the match report.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente praised Yamal after another impressive performance.
“He has so much talent and quality,” De la Fuente said. He added that Spain had yet to see the winger’s best version.
Rodri Ends Goal Drought
Rodri scored his first goal for Spain in more than two years.
The midfielder said scoring for his country remained special.
He also praised Czechia’s organisation and admitted the match was difficult.
Spain coach De la Fuente made several changes to his starting XI. Ivan Fresneda and Roberto Fernández made their international debuts.
Yamal was substituted at half-time as De la Fuente looked to manage his workload ahead of Spain’s next fixture.
Spain Extend Unbeaten Run
The victory extended Spain’s unbeaten run to 41 matches. The streak includes their World Cup final victory over Argentina.
Spain have also won 10 consecutive Nations League matches, according to UEFA.
The result leaves Czechia without a point after three Group A3 matches. They have scored two goals and conceded seven.
Spain will now turn their attention to their next Nations League fixture against Croatia.
