KCFR Hosts Federal Budget Seminar on Pakistan Economic Outlook

The Karachi Council on Foreign Relations (KCFR) hosted a seminar in Karachi to examine the Federal Budget 2026–2027 and its potential economic impact. The event brought together economists, policymakers, and analysts to discuss fiscal priorities, structural reforms, and emerging economic pressures. Moreover, participants explored how budget decisions could shape growth and public welfare.

The seminar created a platform for detailed discussion on the Federal Budget and its wider implications. Speakers reviewed government spending priorities and evaluated whether policy measures could balance stabilization with economic relief. As a result, the event generated broad discussion around sustainable economic planning.

KCFR Federal Budget Discussion

The session featured prominent speakers including defense analyst Ikram Sehgal, KCFR Chairperson Nadira Panjwani, Dr. Kaiser Bengali, and Dr. Khaqan Hassan Najeeb alongside other economists and policy experts.

Participants examined concerns related to inflation and revenue collection. They emphasized that structural tax reforms remain important for strengthening fiscal sustainability. In addition, speakers discussed how effective implementation may improve confidence across economic sectors.

Economists Assess Federal Budget

During the seminar, experts reviewed allocations for education, health, and infrastructure. They discussed these priorities within the context of rising debt-servicing obligations and fiscal commitments linked to international economic frameworks.

Speakers also assessed how the Federal Budget may influence middle- and low-income households. Furthermore, they noted that inflation and cost-of-living pressures continue to affect purchasing power and economic stability.

Federal Budget and Business Impact

Discussion expanded toward revenue-generation measures and their influence on economic documentation and growth. Participants considered whether proposed mechanisms support business activity or create additional operational challenges.

The session also explored opportunities for entrepreneurs and SMEs. In addition, experts highlighted the role of technological adoption in improving productivity and encouraging sustainable economic expansion.

KCFR Emphasizes Policy Dialogue

The seminar concluded that the Federal Budget presents opportunities for reform and economic progress. However, speakers observed that achieving inclusive growth and delivering meaningful relief remains a continuing challenge.

KCFR reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging informed dialogue on national and international policy matters. Organizers noted that such discussions help strengthen public understanding of economic and governance issues.
