Karachi: The first major upset of the ongoing Jahangir Khan PSA Series Challenger Squash Tournament shocked fans as Sindh’s wild card entrant Hassan Paracha outclassed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Qasim Noorani in straight sets at the Jahangir Khan Sports Club.
According to Tournament Director Naveed Alam, the five-day tournament is being organized in collaboration with Atif Wasi and Family. Hassan Paracha secured a dominant 3-0 victory with a scoreline of 11-7, 11-2, 11-2, wrapping up the match in just 12 minutes to book his spot in the quarterfinals.
Top Players Advance in Second Round
Other second-round matches saw top-seeded players progressing as expected:
- Tayyab Aslam (SNGPL) defeated Muhammad Zaman (SNGPL)
- Azan Ali (Pakistan Army) beat Abdul Basit (SNGPL)
- Varun Asif (Punjab) overcame Israr Ahmed (SNGPL)
- Saddam ul Haq (Pakistan Army) won against Sikandar Khan (Sindh)
- Sakhiullah (Punjab) edged out Abdul Basit (Sindh) in a thrilling five-setter
- Khaqan Malik (Punjab) defeated Naveed Rehman (Sindh)
Quarterfinal matches will commence at 12:00 PM on Thursday, while the final—carrying a prize purse of $3,000—will be played on July 26.

Tournament Kicks Off in Karachi with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
The Jahangir Khan PSA Series Challenger officially began earlier this week in Karachi. Chief Guest Atif Wasi inaugurated the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Also present were Tournament Director Naveed Alam, Project Directors Arsalan Naimat and Aqeel Surya, among others.

All top seeds sailed through the first round:
- Muhammad Zaman (SNGPL) beat Abdul Ahad (Sindh) 3-0
- Varun Asif (Punjab) defeated Muhammad Fawad 3-0
- Hassan Paracha (Sindh) crushed Zohaib Khan (Sindh) 3-0
- Azan Khan (Pakistan Army) beat Abdullah Nadeem (Punjab) 3-0
- Sikandar Khan (Sindh) triumphed over Talha Saeed (Sindh)
- Abdul Basit (Sindh) beat Muhammad Babar (Punjab)
- Naveed Rehman (Sindh) downed Abdullah Zaman (PAF) 3-0
- Ashar Butt (Punjab) defeated Harira Khan (PAF) 3-1
