The disruption in Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) supply has intensified the gas shortage across the country, resulting in the suspension of new domestic gas connections.
According to sources, the processing of previously submitted applications has also been deferred, including cases where applicants had already fulfilled formal requirements such as the submission of urgent vouchers and demand notices.
The suspension has left thousands of connections pending amid ongoing supply constraints. The development comes only months after the resumption of new gas connections following a prolonged ban, during which hundreds of connections had been issued.
Consumers across the country are already being supplied gas for limited hours due to the shortage.
Senior General Manager Sui Northern Imran Yousaf said the issuance of new connections has been temporarily halted due to the disruption in RLNG supply. He added that the process will be resumed once the supply situation improves.
