Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori Receives Ethiopia’s Highest Honor

Karachi: At a grand ceremony held at the Governor House, Governor Sindh H.E. Kamran Khan Tessori received Ethiopia’s highest honor, the Ethio-Pakistan Fraternity Award. The Ethiopian Ambassador and Special Envoy H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker presented the award, recognizing Governor Tessori’s outstanding efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia.

Ceremony Details

The event took place at the Governor House and was hosted by H.E. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul General of Ethiopia in Karachi and Chairman of the Pakistan-Ethiopia Business Council. During his speech, H.E. Tawab emphasized the deep cultural and economic ties between the two countries. He also shared his experiences from trade delegations to Ethiopia and highlighted the growing opportunities for Pakistani businesses in the Ethiopian market.

Governor Tessori’s Gratitude

In his remarks, Governor Kamran Khan Tessori expressed his sincere gratitude for the prestigious award. He thanked Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker and the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad for their crucial role in promoting diplomatic and economic cooperation. Governor Tessori noted that the relationship between Pakistan and Ethiopia has entered a new phase of strength, particularly following the launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan. This development, he pointed out, has opened new avenues for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Ambassador Beker’s Remarks

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker praised Governor Tessori for his significant role in enhancing people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Ethiopia. He highlighted the Governor’s efforts in promoting Ethiopian Airlines and improving bilateral relations. Furthermore, Beker emphasized that these contributions have laid a solid foundation for future collaboration across various sectors, including trade, culture, and regional cooperation.

Business Community Insights

H.E. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab provided valuable insights into the opportunities awaiting Pakistani businesses in Ethiopia. He encouraged entrepreneurs to explore the Ethiopian market, citing its rapid economic growth and strategic location in Africa as key advantages. Additionally, Tawab assured that the Pakistan-Ethiopia Business Council will continue to support business connections and facilitate trade delegations.

Meanwhile, H.E. Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), discussed the expanding trade relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia. He stressed the importance of capitalizing on the immense business potential in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and textiles.

Cultural Celebration

The evening’s festivities included a vibrant Ethiopian cultural show, showcasing traditional dance and music. These performances not only celebrated Ethiopia’s rich heritage but also underscored the flourishing people-to-people relations between the two countries. The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the Sindh Governor House, the Pakistan-Ethiopia Business Council, and Bukhari Group jointly supported the event.

In conclusion, H.E. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab highlighted the cultural and historical ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan. He remarked on the shared values and similarities between the two nations and described the cultural performances as a beautiful reflection of Ethiopia’s heritage as the “Land of Origins.”

The event attracted a distinguished audience, including dignitaries from the Government of Pakistan, Parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, the business community, civil society, and media. Notable attendees included H.E. Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of TDAP; H.E. Khalid Tawab, Ex-Minister of Sindh for Commerce and Industry; and H.E. Ibrahim Tawab, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi.
