GIS Technology Nasir Shah Launches Advanced Digital Mapping System at Sindh Master Plan Authority

GIS Technology took a major step forward in Sindh after Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated an advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) at the Sindh Master Plan Authority (SMPA), describing it as a key initiative to support smart city planning, digital governance and efficient land management.

During his visit to the Sindh Master Plan Authority in Karachi, the minister received a live demonstration of the newly introduced digital system. Officials explained that the technology will assist in preparing smart city plans, identifying plots owned by Sindh’s land management institutions and developing urban planning strategies using Google imagery.

Speaking at the event, Nasir Shah said the adoption of modern technology would improve transparency, efficiency and institutional monitoring while helping government departments deliver better public services.

He directed officials to make full use of the new digital platform to strengthen the Authority’s performance and accelerate the province’s transition toward technology-driven governance.

The minister said the Sindh government continues to modernize public institutions in line with the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for a developed Pakistan. He described the introduction of advanced digital systems as an important step toward meeting the demands of modern urban development.

During the visit, Nasir Shah also participated in the Hajj 2027 balloting ceremony for officers and employees of the Sindh Master Plan Authority. He congratulated the successful candidates and wished them a safe and blessed pilgrimage, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to employee welfare.

The ceremony was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Waseem Shamshad, Senior Director Shakeel Siddiqui, KDA Director General Asif Jan Siddiqui and senior officials of the Sindh Master Plan Authority and the Karachi Development Authority.

At the conclusion of the event, Senior Director Shakeel Siddiqui presented a commemorative shield to the minister and thanked the Sindh government for introducing modern technology and supporting employee welfare initiatives. He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to promoting transparency, good governance and digital transformation.
