Consulate General of France celebrated Bastille Day on Sunday with a grand event attended by the Governor of Sindh Muhammad Kamran Tessori, along with other Consul Generals and dignitaries. In his speech, the Consul General of France, Alexis Chahtahtinsky, emphasized the special significance of this year’s Bastille Day celebration due to three key reasons: France is hosting the Summer Olympics from July 26 to August 11, marking 124 years since Baron Pierre de Coubertin revived this ancient Greek tradition.
Second, both France and Pakistan are experiencing Election Years in 2024. French Consul General noted the striking similarities between the election results in both countries, with political landscapes almost evenly split among three major political forces. The outcome of the coalition in the French Parliament, convening next week, remains to be seen.
Third, the economic landscape shows positive developments after a period of challenges, particularly in bilateral cooperation, providing reasons for optimism. Chahtahtinsky also expressed gratitude to the event sponsors and highlighted the cultural and educational cooperation between the two countries.
