China-Pakistan Friendship: Chinese Consulate Donates 110 Fogger Machines to KMC

KARACHI: China-Pakistan Friendship received a practical boost as the Chinese Consulate-General in Karachi donated 110 latest fogger machines worth Rs1.7 million to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

Acting Consul General of China in Karachi Feng Deheng presented the equipment during a ceremony at the Chinese Consulate-General. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab attended the event.

Feng welcomed Mayor Wahab and praised the KMC and the mayor for their longstanding support and close cooperation with China.

75 Years of Bilateral Relations

Feng said 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.

He said the friendship between the two countries had remained strong despite changes in the international landscape. He described the relationship as a benchmark for state-to-state ties.

The acting consul general said leaders of both countries attach great importance to strengthening their “ironclad” friendship.

He also referred to President Xi Jinping’s meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in May. He said both sides agreed to advance the China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future.

According to Feng, the two countries also want to combine major projects with “small and beautiful” livelihood initiatives. Such efforts, he said, can deliver greater benefits to ordinary people.

Karachi Key to China-Pakistan Cooperation

Feng described Karachi as Pakistan’s economic, financial and cultural centre.

He said the city also serves as an important bridge for bilateral friendship.

Karachi and Shanghai established friendship city relations in 1984. Since then, the two cities have cooperated in urban development, transport planning and cultural exchanges.

Feng also highlighted Karachi’s role in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He mentioned the Port Qasim Coal-fired Power Plant, Thar Coal Mine and Power Integration Project, Sukkur-Multan section of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway and Dhabeji Special Economic Zone as examples of bilateral cooperation.

He said these projects contribute to energy security, connectivity and investment opportunities in Karachi and the wider region.

Fogger Machines to Support Public Health

During the ceremony, the Chinese Consulate-General handed over the fogger machines to KMC.

The equipment will support fumigation, environmental disinfection and epidemic prevention efforts during Karachi’s rainy season.

Feng said the monsoon season can increase the risk of seasonal infectious diseases. Therefore, the new equipment will help strengthen the city’s public health response.

He said China attaches great importance to healthcare development in Karachi and the well-being of its residents.

“The donation is a practical livelihood initiative that demonstrates the ironclad friendship and mutual support between China and Pakistan,” Feng said.

He expressed confidence that the machines would help reduce disease risks across the city.

Wahab Thanks Chinese Consulate

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab thanked the acting Chinese consul general and the Government of China for the donation.

He particularly appreciated the decision to provide the 110 fumigation machines before the monsoon season.

Wahab said KMC would use the equipment to support fumigation and spraying operations across Karachi.

Feng also praised Wahab’s support for activities marking the 75th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations.

He recalled that several landmark buildings, including the KMC building, were illuminated in “Chinese Red” on May 21.

The acting consul general said the gesture reflected Karachi’s support for the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

Feng reiterated that the Chinese Consulate-General would continue promoting people-to-people cooperation and practical initiatives for local communities.

He said China would continue working with Pakistan to strengthen their traditional friendship and build a closer China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future.
