FPCCI Extends Support to Sindh Police for Improved Law and Order in Karachi

Karachi – Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has pledged full support to the Sindh Police to maintain law and order, emphasizing the shared goal of a secure, business-friendly, and prosperous Sindh. He highlighted that the business community, being a key stakeholder, benefits directly from improved safety and security measures.

AIG Javed Alam Odho Engages with Business Community

Mr. Javed Alam Odho, Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi Police, visited the Federation House for an interactive session with the business, trade, and industrial communities. During the session, he addressed their concerns, provided immediate solutions, and outlined actionable follow-up measures.

President Atif Ikram Sheikh shared that the AIG briefed the FPCCI on the declining crime rates in Karachi, reflecting the Sindh Police’s efforts. However, he acknowledged that further improvements are needed to restore full investor confidence.

Tributes to Sindh Police and Call for Media Support

The FPCCI Chief paid tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the Sindh Police for their sacrifices in ensuring public safety. He urged the media to project a positive image of Karachi and Sindh, showcasing the police’s contributions and sacrifices to the global audience.

Proposed Measures to Enhance Law and Order

  • Digital Access for FIRs: Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of FPCCI, proposed granting FPCCI access to the online FIR portal for streamlined complaint registration.
  • Joint Seminar: A seminar was suggested to promote Sindh as an investment-friendly destination.
  • Focused Coordination: Vice Presidents Mr. Aman Paracha, Mr. Asif Sakhi, and Abdul Mohamin Khan discussed sector-specific and regional law and order challenges.

Technological Advancements by Sindh Police

AIG Javed Alam Odho highlighted several technological initiatives, including:

  • E-tagging and Facial Recognition Cameras: Advanced tools to improve security.
  • Safe City Project: Plans for implementation in Karachi next year.
  • GPS and Cellular Data: Extensive use of technology for precise crime control.
  • Recruitment Drive: Thousands of new police personnel are being hired to strengthen the force.

FPCCI’s Focal Person for Law and Order

It was agreed that Mr. Ikram Rajput, Convener of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on Law & Order for Sindh Region, will serve as the focal person to convey business community complaints to the Sindh Police for swift resolution.

The collaboration between FPCCI and Sindh Police reflects a joint commitment to fostering a safer, more secure Karachi, positioning it as a hub for business and investment.
