Islamabad: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has gifted Turkish electric vehicles, Togg, to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari in a gesture of friendship and collaboration.
Expressing gratitude, PM Shehbaz praised Turkiye’s automotive advancements and emphasized the potential for future cooperation between Pakistani and Turkish automobile industries.
Later, the Prime Minister and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari took their respective electric vehicles for a drive alongside President Erdogan.
Pakistan and Turkiye reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, economy, energy, defense, tourism, and cultural exchanges. The discussions took place during a meeting between President Erdogan and President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Welcoming the Turkish leader, President Zardari highlighted the historic fraternal ties between the two nations and their support for each other on international platforms. He emphasized that Erdogan’s visit held special significance for Pakistan and would further strengthen bilateral relations.
President Zardari underscored Pakistan’s investment-friendly policies and invited Turkish enterprises to invest in key sectors, including the stock market and banking. He stressed the importance of increased air connectivity and banking cooperation to boost trade and tourism.
President Erdogan reiterated Turkiye’s commitment to deepening economic ties and encouraged Turkish businesses to invest in Pakistan, aiming to raise bilateral trade to $5 billion.
The two leaders discussed regional and international matters, including Gaza and Syria, and pledged joint efforts for global peace and stability. President Zardari also thanked Erdogan for Turkiye’s unwavering support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
President Erdogan lauded Pakistan’s progress and stability, emphasizing the need to enhance people-to-people relations to further strengthen ties for future generations.
