Court Grants 2-Day Physical Remand in High-Profile Drug and Murder Case of Anmol alias ‘Pinky’

Karachi: A Judicial Magistrate (South) has issued a written order in the high-profile case involving interstate drug accused Anmol alias Pinky, who is also facing a murder charge registered at Baghdadi Police Station.

According to the written judgment, the court noted that the accused did not complain of any police torture during custody. The investigating officer informed the court that physical remand was required for further investigation, claiming that the accused was allegedly operating a large-scale drug network across Pakistan.

The order stated that, as per the prosecution, the deceased was found in possession of narcotics allegedly linked to the accused. The investigation officer further argued that the suspect was running an organized network and that additional arrests were necessary, requiring further custodial interrogation.

Defense counsel Advocate Mir Hidayatullah opposed the physical remand, arguing that the accused had no direct link to the drug packaging or distribution network. He claimed that the accused had already been in police custody for 22 days and alleged that forced statements were being taken. He also challenged the authenticity of the branding and labels on the recovered drug packets, calling them fabricated.

The court observed that the case relates to murder and that, based on preliminary evidence, further investigation is required. The judge noted that initial evidence appears to be against the accused, making custodial interrogation necessary.

The court granted a two-day physical remand and directed police to present the accused before the relevant court on May 18. It also instructed investigators to conduct a transparent and lawful investigation and submit a progress report.

Authorities have been asked to ensure that all proceedings comply with legal standards while continuing efforts to trace other individuals linked to the alleged network.
