Actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter are mourning the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, who the family remembered as a loving, smart and creative girl who loved to dance.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE on September 29, the family said they were “deeply heartbroken” by Fiona’s death and described her as deeply loved by her parents and sisters.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said.
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” they added. “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
The family asked for prayers and privacy as they grieve. Their statement also included information about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, encouraging people experiencing mental health difficulties to seek support. The family has not publicly disclosed Fiona’s cause of death.

Chad Lowe, 58, and Kim Painter, 52, welcomed Fiona on November 16, 2012. She was the middle child of their three daughters. Her sisters are Mabel Painter, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10.
Chad marked Fiona’s 13th birthday in 2025 with a loving social media tribute. Sharing a photograph of his daughter, he wrote that she had officially become a teenager and encouraged her to “keep dancing through life.”
Fiona’s death comes after a difficult period for the family. Their Pacific Palisades home was destroyed in the devastating wildfires in early 2025.
In February 2025, Chad shared that his daughters had returned to see what remained of the home where they had grown up. He praised their resilience and wrote that helping them navigate the experience was his “sole purpose,” adding that being their father was his “life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
The family has now asked for privacy as they cope with Fiona’s death.
