Karachi: Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), visited the Head Office of the Hunar Foundation in Karachi today. She was invited by Mr. Tahir Javed, CEO of the Hunar Foundation, who warmly welcomed her alongside the foundation’s faculty members.

During her visit, Mr. Javed provided Senator Khalid with an overview of the foundation’s various short courses and skills development programs.

Senator Khalid emphasized the critical need for collaboration between BISP and Hunar Foundation. She noted that providing skill training aligned with global market trends is essential for deserving individuals. “Skill training enables people to secure employment both locally and internationally, improving their economic conditions,” she stated. “By equipping children from underprivileged families with technical skills, we can help them become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the economy.”

Additionally, Senator Khalid stressed the importance of securing internationally recognized certifications for skilled workers. “Authentic global certifications across various sectors will ensure our skilled labor is in demand worldwide,” she added. She also highlighted the necessity of including basic work ethics in the training curriculum.

Senator Khalid reaffirmed BISP’s commitment to supporting the underprivileged. “BISP plays a vital role in providing financial assistance to the most vulnerable segments of society. Currently, 9.3 million deserving families benefit from BISP, and this number will soon rise to 10 million,” she concluded.
