Police say a suspected terrorist quadcopter dropped explosives in Baka Khel, while authorities have stepped up security after a series of drone-related attacks.
Bannu Attack left one person dead and four others injured after a suspected terrorist quadcopter dropped an explosive device in the Baka Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, police said.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Furqan Bilal said the incident occurred within the limits of Baka Khel Police Station.
The explosion killed one person instantly. Meanwhile, four others, including a teenager, suffered injuries.
Rescue teams rushed the victims to the District Headquarters Hospital. There, doctors continue to provide treatment.
Later, Assistant Commissioner Sajjad Hussain and former provincial minister Malik Shah Muhammad Khan visited the hospital. They met the injured and expressed solidarity with the affected families.
Police warn of changing tactics
DPO Bilal said security forces recently foiled several quadcopter attacks on police stations, checkpoints and other sensitive sites.
As a result, the attackers allegedly shifted their focus to unarmed civilians.
According to the police, the suspected strategy aims to spread fear and panic among local residents.
Bridge blast disrupts traffic
In a separate incident, attackers destroyed a bridge on the CPEC Circular Road in the Saidgi area of Baka Khel, local sources said.
Consequently, traffic in the area came to a halt.
The latest attack follows a suspected quadcopter strike in Lower South Waziristan on Sunday.
That incident killed three girls and injured four other members of the same family.
