Moderate earthquakes trigger panic among residents as authorities monitor the situation for possible damage

A Balochistan Earthquake was felt in the districts of Sibi and Kohlu on Friday, prompting residents to leave their homes and gather in open areas as tremors shook the region.

According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake measured 4.2 in magnitude in Sibi and 5.0 in Kohlu. Officials said the Sibi quake originated at a depth of 42 kilometres, while the Kohlu earthquake occurred at a depth of 18 kilometres.

The Seismological Centre reported that the epicentre of the Sibi earthquake was located approximately 57 kilometres northeast of the city. The epicentre of the Kohlu earthquake was identified about 65 kilometres northeast of the district.

The tremors caused panic among local residents, but initial reports indicate that no casualties or property damage have been recorded.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the affected areas and remain in contact with local administrations to assess any potential impact. Emergency response teams have also been placed on alert as a precaution.

Pakistan lies along several active fault lines and experiences earthquakes of varying intensity throughout the year, particularly in Balochistan and northern parts of the country.
