Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), arrived in Türkiye on Monday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence ties and discussing matters of mutual interest.
According to Pakistan Television, citing security sources, Field Marshal Asim Munir received a warm welcome upon his arrival. During the visit, he is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Türkiye’s military and political leadership.
Officials said the discussions will focus on issues of mutual interest and further enhancing cooperation between the two countries. However, authorities have not released additional details about the visit’s agenda.
The visit follows Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent trip to Iran, where he accompanied Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Last month, Turkish Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel visited Pakistan and met Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding defence cooperation and strengthening institutional ties between the armed forces of the two countries.
General Tokel also held separate meetings with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu during his visit to Pakistan.
