Karachi: Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Pakistan, officially inaugurated the Honorary Consulate of Ethiopia in Karachi. This new consulate aims to further strengthen the growing bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
During the inauguration, Ambassador Dr. Jemal congratulated H.E. Ibrahim Tawab on his appointment as Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi and the successful opening of the consulate. The Ambassador noted that Karachi, as a major business hub and cultural center of Pakistan, is well-positioned to enhance bilateral trade and foster stronger people-to-people connections between the two nations.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal emphasized that the Ethiopian Embassy in Pakistan has played a crucial role in the Look Africa and Engage Africa policies, significantly linking Pakistan with the African continent. He highlighted that the Ethiopian government established its mission in Islamabad in 2022, introduced Ethiopian Airlines in 2023, and now, with the new Honorary Consulate in Karachi, aims to deepen economic and cultural ties.
H.E. Ibrahim Tawab, the newly appointed Honorary Consul, spoke about the substantial business, trade, and investment opportunities in Ethiopia. He praised Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker’s vision for enhancing trade relations between Pakistan and Africa and expressed enthusiasm for the consulate’s role in promoting these opportunities.
