Algeria is set to become the epicenter of African trade from September 4 to 10, 2025, as it hosts the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF). More than an economic gathering, the event represents Algeria’s determination to strengthen continental cooperation, expand intra-African commerce, and solidify its role within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Against a backdrop of shifting geopolitical priorities, the IATF 2025 offers Algeria a unique opportunity to showcase its economic potential, logistical capacity, and diplomatic leadership. The fair aims to move beyond traditional trade exhibitions by facilitating structural economic integration, boosting trade facilitation, and creating sustainable partnerships across the continent’s $3 trillion market.
Algeria’s historical role in promoting African unity — from supporting liberation movements to leading African Union initiatives — reinforces its position as the natural host for this flagship event. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s Pan-African strategy emphasizes economic diversification, stronger African partnerships, and independence from imbalanced global trade relations.
With strong political backing and participation from African leaders, policymakers, and business communities, the IATF 2025 in Algiers is expected to become a milestone for Africa’s economic renewal. Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairman of the fair’s advisory board, underscored its importance as a platform to deepen cooperation and realize Africa’s shared growth ambitions.
For one week, Algiers will not only host a trade fair but also reaffirm its place as a historic capital of African solidarity, a driving force for regional integration, and a hub for new economic possibilities.
