Karachi: The High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, Harerimana Fatu, has invited Pakistani investors to explore business opportunities in Rwanda, assuring that bank accounts and other facilities can be set up online within just 20 minutes.

Speaking at an interactive session organized by the English-Speaking Union of Pakistan (ESUP) at a local hotel, the envoy said Rwanda seeks partnerships with Pakistan in education, health, culture, IT, and agriculture. She confirmed that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed to expand bilateral cooperation.

Highlighting Rwanda’s rapid progress since gaining independence in 1994, Fatu emphasized the nation’s young population, zero tolerance for corruption, and ambitious economic vision — targeting a 7.8% GDP growth and Singapore-style development by 2035. She revealed that Rwanda is planning two major programs this year: a grand National Day celebration and the launch of a nationwide prosperity program.

When asked about dedicated industrial land for Pakistani investors to produce goods for local consumption and export to neighboring markets like Tanzania, Congo, and Mombasa, she welcomed the proposal, saying it could be considered.

ESUP Patron-in-Chief Aziz Memon praised the envoy’s insights and noted the organization’s efforts to promote international engagement. President Parvez Madraswala expressed plans to facilitate visits for Pakistani traders to Rwanda, while Senior Vice President Irfan Qureshi said the session would encourage more investors to consider the country. A documentary on Rwanda was also screened during the event.
