Portugal has climbed two places to fifth in the latest FIFA Rankings, becoming the only team to move up inside the top 10.
The latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking was released on Wednesday. Portugal’s rise came after four straight victories in the UEFA Nations League.
Portugal defeated Norway twice during the international window. It also beat Wales and Denmark.
The move lifted Portugal above Brazil and Morocco. Brazil dropped one place to sixth, while Morocco fell to seventh after both teams drew friendlies.
Spain Extends Lead at the Top
World champions Spain remain the No. 1 team in the world.
Spain increased its lead after winning all four of its Nations League matches. The champions beat England 3-2 and defeated Croatia twice. They also beat the Czech Republic.
Argentina remain second in the rankings. France hold third place, while England stay fourth.

Argentina recently defeated Benin 3-0. The match marked Lionel Messi’s final appearance for the national team, according to the ranking report.
Belgium, the Netherlands and Mexico complete the top 10.

United States Stay at No. 16
The United States remain 16th despite a perfect international window.
The US team won all four of its matches. It defeated Peru 4-1, Chile 4-2, Mexico 3-0 and Canada 1-0.
The results were not enough to move the United States higher in the rankings.
Rwanda Makes Biggest Jump
Rwanda recorded the biggest rise in the latest update.
The African side climbed nine places to 119th. Its progress followed a 2-1 victory over Cape Verde in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying on September 29.
Sierra Leone suffered the biggest drop.
The team fell eight places to 130th after losing both of its Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches. FIFA listed Sierra Leone as the biggest ranking faller in terms of places.
The latest update covered 338 international matches played since the 2026 World Cup ended on July 19.
FIFA will publish the next edition of its Men’s World Ranking on November 18, 2026.
