HYDERABAD: MNA Syed Waseem Hussain has called for the positive and responsible use of media and social media to bring meaningful change to society.
Speaking at a media training workshop in Hyderabad, Hussain said university graduates often struggle to find jobs. He attributed the challenge partly to a lack of proper guidance and access to opportunities.
Hussain also raised concerns about the unchecked use of social media in Pakistan.
“The way content is being circulated on social media, we as Pakistanis should not become part of such practices,” he said.
He said artificial intelligence was no longer fully within the control of governments. He described the development as a major challenge for Pakistan.
Hussain stressed the need for responsible use of social media and other digital platforms.
He expressed these views as the chief guest on the second day of a five-day media training workshop in Hyderabad.
The Women Media Center Pakistan (WMC) organised the workshop at a local hotel. It is titled “The Digital Democracy Landscape: Social Media, Civic Participation and Public Engagement.”

Call for Responsible Digital Communication
Hussain said people should play a positive role as Pakistanis regardless of their ideology, manifesto or political affiliation.
He warned that fake social media accounts were often used to circulate misleading messages.
People then forward such content without verification, he said. This contributes to the spread of misinformation.
Hussain urged media users to verify information before sharing it on digital platforms.
Women Journalists Receive Digital Media Training
On the second day, women journalists, Mass Communication students and media professionals attended sessions on digital media.
The training covered responsible social media use, civic participation and public engagement.
Participants also took part in practical exercises and interactive sessions. The activities focused on developing practical digital communication skills.
The five-day training programme will continue until October 10, 2026.
WMC said the programme aims to equip women journalists, media students and media practitioners with modern digital media skills.
It also seeks to promote responsible and effective communication across digital platforms.
