ISLAMABAD, October 2, 2026: Islamabad Marriott Hotel hosted a reception marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, bringing together Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and senior Pakistani officials.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the reception and was warmly received by Islamabad Marriott Hotel Manager Salman Asif, according to the hotel.
The gathering also included Senator Musadik Masood Malik, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary.
Ali Pervaiz Malik and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq were also among the distinguished guests.
The reception was held as Pakistan and China marked the anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Pakistan and China are also celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026.

The anniversary celebrations in Islamabad also featured remarks by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on strengthening Pakistan-China relations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further developing the bilateral partnership.
At an official ceremony marking the anniversary, Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq joined Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong to cut a cake celebrating the occasion.
The Islamabad Marriott reception highlighted the continued engagement between Pakistani officials and Chinese representatives during the 77th anniversary celebrations.
