PESHAWAR: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has reiterated the armed forces’ commitment to combating terrorism and maintaining peace and stability across Pakistan during a visit to Corps Headquarters Peshawar.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Munir was briefed on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of military formations deployed across the province.
“Armed forces, with the unwavering support of the nation, remain resolute in their determination to defeat terrorism and ensure lasting peace and stability across the country,” Munir said, according to the military’s media wing.
The CDF praised the morale, preparedness and professionalism of officers and troops and acknowledged their efforts to protect the country and its people. He directed formations to remain vigilant and maintain the highest standards of operational readiness, ISPR said.
During the visit, Munir also went to Yadgar-e-Shuhada at Corps Headquarters, where he laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha for soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
ISPR said the army chief paid tribute to those who had died while defending the country and fighting terrorism, adding that he reaffirmed that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

The visit comes amid heightened security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following a series of recent attacks. In Kohat, a two-pronged assault near a mosque at the old Police Lines on September 18 left 23 people dead, according to police and Counter-Terrorism Department officials. An overnight clearance operation later killed all eight attackers, authorities said.
Two days later, six security personnel, including two officers, were killed in an exchange of fire with militants in Hangu, while authorities reported that eight militants were killed in the operation.
Pakistan also carried out what the government described as “calibrated” airstrikes against terrorist sites in the border region with Afghanistan. The Information Ministry said more than 28 terrorists were killed in the strikes, while a separate intelligence-based ground operation around Kohat, Hangu and Thal resulted in additional reported deaths.
The recent escalation has also added to tensions between Islamabad and Kabul. Pakistani officials have repeatedly called for action against militant sanctuaries they say are being used to plan attacks inside Pakistan, while Afghan authorities have disputed such allegations.
Munir was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps upon his arrival at Corps Headquarters, according to ISPR.
